Looking for the best editor to do your audio work on?
Goldwave is the rolls royce of editors by my experience!
I've tried a few editors such as sound forge & audacity but found them to be too frickin' tedious to figure out how to use effectively.
I ran across & been using Goldwave since 2009 & can't say enough great things about it. Right off the bat out of the box, I had very little difficulty understanding how to use it & figuring out what effects would do what. This editor is so intuitive an audio greenhorn could figure it out which was near about what I was in the digital realm when I got this. It didn't take me long to get up to speed on all the things I could do with it.
It has most of every audio tool you could need but will also take on other vendor audio tools such as sound forge & winamp plugins. I'm using sound forge & winamp plugins with mine & gives me all the tools I really need at my disposal.
I believe the newer versions will accept vst plugins now so that's a real bonus if you're already using those tools & if you're into things like re-arranging parts of songs from 1 place to another or clipping out parts for remixes, Goldwave will do it with ease & seamless if you have a knack for merging pieces together. I use it a lot for my remixes.
The #1 feature on this app that stands out above anything else is the parametric eq & the most essential tool needed for creating great audio. If you don't know the difference between parametric & a standard eq, it's a night & day comparison in ability to sculpture the audio.
A standard eq has fixed freq's whereas parametric is fluid & you can pick the center freq of as many bands as you need then expand or narrow the bandwidth to hone in on the sound you're looking for but not all parametric eq's are created equal. Goldwave's eq has the best visual ergonomics & predictable functioning I've ever run across along with more bands than any other I've seen or need to use & unlike others with limited bandwidth expansion per channel, this will open full spectrum, real sweet but it's a learning curve to master it's use if you haven't used one.
The only thing I could say that might be of more use would be the ability to do more than 2 channels. I think the newer versions can but I can't try them out being I'm still using xp but unless you need to do multi channel mixing/editing, the older versions will stand up against exotic recording studio software when it comes to ability to sculpture audio & a dream come true for handling the job of sprucing up my library.
I've done 10's of thousands of songs so far & my entire listening library has been reworked. I've got so good at making music sound spectacular, I'd put my work up against the best known establishment copies in existence & if it weren't for Goldwave being so fast & easy at doing it's job, I never would have attempted to get so deep into taking on this sorta venture so those of you unimpressed like me with many of the wretched remasters that are coming out, screw 'em & make your own. With some trial & error & a lot of practice you could have an audio collection the envy of everyone & cease being forced to accept how the guy who remastered your favorite tunes thinks you should hear it. The finer things in life is stuff like never having to fiddle with the tone controls on my amp anymore & me has a big shit eatin' grin about it!
The developer genius of this editor, Chris, has always answered my questions over the years when I needed help & for a dirt cheap price of $15 for a year or $45 for a lifetime license, you ain't gonna find nothin' better than this or regret it.
If you have or decide to try out Goldwave & need some pointers, I don't mind givin' advice, just holler.
