With the loss of CD Baby as a flac vendor, I figured it would be a good idea to list who is vending popular music in lossless currently. There's others with limited selections that are pretty insignificant & won't get mentioned here. If I missed any good sources, plz post a note.
Bandcamp ~link~ Mostly Indie bands & strict about bands delivering lossless quality.
7 Digital U.S. ~link~ Not all selections are flac but a good assortment.
7 Digital U.K. ~link~ Same as above but has selections not listed on the U.S. site & if you aren't in the U.K. jurisdiction of their sales territory, they won't sell to you.
HD Tracks ~link~ Offers many ultra hi-rez copies of the classics & others but pricey.
Murfie's ~link~ My 1st stop when looking for an album, with bargain prices as low as $1 for a whole flac album but hard copy or digital albums only, can't buy singles from albums nor sample music like on amazon or i-tunes, gotta know you want it. Test of their flac rip vs a hard copy bought from them, tested identical in quality.
Juno Download ~link~ Very high priced that I only use as a last resort if they have a tune I can't find elsewhere. Still cheaper than buying a CD if you only want a song or 2.
I-Tunes sells the m4a format which on, not all but the majority of their offerings when converted to flac, test out on a spectrum analyzer as equal to lossless. I've yet to find a difference in audio quality of their good m4a's vs a genuine flac but can't say that's the norm across the board. I-Tunes would be a better service if they identified which music is cd quality otherwise it's a crap shoot if you get it. You, of course need to use their app to buy from them.
